My husband and I decided to spend the weekend in Mariposa, which really is a charming town. Savourys is one of the restaurants we decided to eat at and we had a great meal. The ambiance is so romantic that spending our anniversary there was perfect. I had a bacon wrapped dates, delicious, lentils soup, lobster tail, and panna cotta. It was a solid meal. The staff is wonderful.
Great Ceasar salad. Sat at the bar enjoying local company and service was great! Had a cocktail that did the job:)
I hadn't eaten here in almost a decade. They have changed owners since my last time here and I am glad to see report that it was still a lovely experience. I love the antique bar and hostess station they have added to give the space a more "western" or "gold rush town" feel. The hostess, Patience, was soooo sweet and welcoming. She was a delight to talk to. Our server was fine - not overly friendly or enthusiastic, but not a total dud either. She perhaps could have used a bit more personality for my taste, being in a hospitality role. The meal was wonderful. My butternut squash soup (soup of the day) was flavorful and hot. I got the duck, and while the menu said raspberry onion jam for the sauce - it was more like sweet pickled onions. They were still very good. My mom had the salmon. Soooo moist and flavorful. Chocolate torte for my birthday dessert. We will be back.
Frederick's is one of the best restaurants in Mariposa! This is a nicer establishment with a classy atmosphere and friendly staff. The food is on the expensive side but the flavors in each dish is delectable. I got the scallops which were cooked to perfection, the mashed potato's and carrots were pretty standard but paired well. I would come back here for a nice night out
Came in about 7pm for dinner, place was not too crowded got a seat right away. Tables nicely placed with room for a romantic chat or friendly family convo. Order: Shrimp Skewers diablo 9/10 delicious. Prime rib special with mash potatoes and Brussels. Creamy mash/ great size portion Prime rib cooked perfect tasted great! 10/10 Lemon linguine pasta add shrimp was refreshing great portion plenty of shrimp. 9/10 Mixed drinks were bad. Not sure but not mixed well and bitter for a vodka mix. 2/10
One great meal and awesome service in a very nice and comfortable setting. We both had the rib eye and they were excellent. She had the mashed potatoes and I had the baker and we were no disappointed although I've had better these were "just" good nothing special. It was a very nice experience and we both would come back again and see what else we'd like to try. Overall, we both loved it!
From the moment we walked in the customer service was absolutely wonderful! Everyone was super nice and greeted us with a smile! The portobello mushroom was absolutely devine! The steak was cooked to perfection! The Chipotle pasta with prawns was the perfect blend of creamy and spicey with fat juicy prawns. I highly recommend this spot and can't wait to come back!
Visiting "framily" in Mariposa, they treated us to dinner at Savoury's. First impressions upon entering the establishment--YES! The victorian gothic elegance is just our style. From the beautiful wood bar to the colorful amulet chandeliers, this is a place we would frequent if only we lived closer. Alas, we are, in fact, here for the food. So let's go! First, we were offered warm, delish bread with olive oil, vinegar, and roasted garlic. Very good bread! (I suggest the owners check the olive oil company across the street, CostaLivos, and work a deal to co-market, because their oils and vinegars are so yummy! But that's for another review!) We ordered the bacon-wrapped dates and blue cheese and bacon dip for starters. The dates were very good, drizzled with a balsamic reduction. Sweet and savory! Personally, I like the bacon a little less crispy, but I still had two of the six pieces! The blue cheese dip is a crowd pleaser! For me, it's too rich, but I was definitely the odd person out in my opinion. Then dinner. Our party of five had the scallops, NY steak Diane, two filets, and the ginger cilantro pasta with prawns. All come with a choice of soup or salad; baked, mashed, or French fried potatoes or rice, and a veggie--this night, green beans. (No veggie with the pasta.) I had the scallops. They were perfectly seasoned and that created a slightly crispy crust on the perfectly seared mollusks. These were served in a garlic herb cream sauce that was so good I dipped my baked potato skins in it. The green beans were fresh and maybe slightly overcooked, but still yummy. I had an inedible tip on one of my beams and noticed a co-diner had an entire inedible string of green bean. Not a deal-breaker for a five star review, but something the prep team should be aware of. Both filets were cooked to our diner's wishes--one medium rare and one medium. Both raved about thier meals. Same with the rare NY--he even commented that it was truly rare--not often attainable in restaurants these days. And lastly, my husband had the pasta. Because we weren't sitting near each other, I have to take his work that it was cooked al dente with moist prawns and quite tasty. Lastly, the service was great! We had several people checking on us, and each was concerned that we had an excellent meal. We will be back on future visits to Mariposa!
